August 16, 2024 – The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN) is proud to announce the inclusion of Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC) as its newest member. This partnership underscores our shared commitment to advancing sustainable finance and strengthening the resilience of the financial system in response to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges.
SERC plays a crucial role in regulating, supervising, and developing Cambodia’s securities sector. It has been at the forefront of promoting sustainable finance within Cambodia and the broader ASEAN region, working closely with development partners to issue guidelines and promote the issuance of sustainable bonds. To diversify the sustainable bond products, SERC is also working on developing the sustainability-linked bond guideline.
Within the ASEAN framework, SERC holds significant responsibilities, serving as an alternate member of the ASEAN Taxonomy Board (ATB) representing Cambodia and as the Co-Chair of the ASEAN Working Committee on Capital Market Development (WC-CMD). SERC has been instrumental in contributing to the development of sustainable finance across ASEAN, including its leadership as the Chair of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) in 2022, during which it endorsed the ASEAN Sustainability-linked Bond Standard and the ASEAN Sustainable and Responsible Fund Standards.
“We are honored to welcome the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia to SBFN,” said Rong Zhang, Global Coordinator of SBFN. “SERC’s commitment to fostering sustainable finance in both Cambodia and the ASEAN region aligns perfectly with our mission to drive global progress in ESG integration. By joining forces, we have the opportunity to pioneer innovative financial solutions and strengthen the resilience of financial systems worldwide. Together, we can accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable and inclusive global economy.”
As an SBFN member, SERC is committed to actively participating in discussions, sharing valuable insights, and contributing to the development of global sustainable finance frameworks and strategies. This membership is poised to drive impactful sustainable finance initiatives on a global scale.
With the inclusion of SERC, SBFN now comprises 95 members across 72 countries, further extending its global influence and reaffirming its central role in promoting sustainable finance worldwide.
