IOSCO consults on Recommendations for Sustainable Finance Regulations in Emerging Markets

February 1, 2019 — The Growth and Emerging Market Committee (GEMC) of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) published a consultation report on “Sustainable finance in emerging markets and the role of securities regulators”. The report proposes 11 recommendations for member jurisdictions in emerging markets to consider when issuing regulations or guidance regarding sustainable financial instruments. Among other things, the recommendations propose requirements for disclosure of material environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks, aimed at enhancing transparency. Read the report here.
