May 31, 2023 – The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN) welcomes the Securities and Exchange Commission of Ghana (SEC) as its newest member.
SEC Ghana is the securities market regulator of Ghana and is responsible for regulating and promoting the growth and development of an efficient, fair, and transparent securities market in the country.
Rev. Daniel Ogbarmey Tetteh, Director-General of SEC Ghana on this occasion noted: “Promoting sustainable finance is high on the agenda of the SEC Ghana and therefore joining SBFN would add impetus to enhancing sustainability in the securities market in Ghana.”
“SEC’s vision of being a top-tier securities regulator in Africa and its commitment to develop a framework with a robust sustainability agenda are very inspiring,” said Rong Zhang, SBFN Global Coordinator. “SBFN is excited to work with SEC Ghana to deliver this commitment in line with best international practice.”
SBFN is an IFC- facilitated network of financial sector regulators and industry associations. SEC’s membership expands SBFN’s collaboration to 79 institutions in 63 countries around the world.
In Ghana, SBFN members also include the Bank of Ghana and Ghana Association of Banks, both of which joined in 2016.
